…doesn’t mean I having been cooking and photographing!  If you’re a blogger you’ll understand when I say alongside the posts you publish you have these other half finished recipes you haven’t quite turned into entries.  Today when commenting on another friend’s blog Feast with Bron about a cucumber recipe I meant to post this summer but never managed to do it I remembered just how much of half finished stuff I have in my photo gallery.  And here’s some of the evidence on how busy I’ve been but too busy to finish…for now.

This is how I’ve been spending a lot of time lately…sticky fingers…wet playdough…I’m now officially running an unpaid bakery from my little kitchen.

And in all of this obsessing about bread…I’ve started to obsess how holey my sourdough is…ok I don’t count the holes but..

Cucumber with Pickled Ginger

Beans. Should or Shouldn’t Salt Your Beans During Cooking?

Butterbean & Spinach Curry

Ice Tea with Fresh Ginger

The Family Burger – It’s a meaty one…some have been known not to be able to finish oneThe joke this summer with our burgers is that now I’m making buns for them I just never seem to make the buns big enough.

Meringues, Pavlovas. Spent the early summer making a lot of these to try and figure why some crack some don’t.

Nuts Caramelised in Palm Sugar & Smoked Pimentón

Garlic & Potato Sauce. It didn’t quite turned out how I hoped.  But I loved photographing that garlic clove…reminded me of magnolia flowers.

Semi Pickled Cucumber.  Marinated in mirin & sugar & salt.

Shortcrust Pastry.  I’ve spent a lot of time photographing shortcrust pastry

White Chocolate Tart with Raspberries.  I haven’t made this for a long while and my first attempt this year for some odd reason I totally underbaked it.

Stuffed Pepperoni Bread.

How To Cook the Perfect Rice or Pilaf – by the absorption method.

Summer Courgette & Basil Soup. From the first River Cafe Cookbook, still making it every summer all these years later.

Aubergines…or more precise old aubergines…you see how they have these black seeds…they’ve been hanging around a bit!

How Cutting Food in Different Ways Makes It Taste different. If you don’t believe me next time you’re having runner beans cut them lengthways.

Peaches. When they disappoint…poach them.

Gill’s Leaven Pitta Bread

Dried Yeast Pitta Bread. A recipe from across the ocean foodie.  These are so easy to make and delicious.

Yogurt Cake...this has been my latest cake obsession.  I made 3 yr old’s birthday cake and 12 yr old’s birthday cake from this recipe.  I’ve also made endless variations, white & dark chocolate chip muffins, raspberry muffins, blueberry cake.  Middle child made me an offer I can refuse, to make the choc chip muffins for her so she can sell them at school.

And among all of this half baked ideas I’ve had 3 year old to photograph too…

Great post! Your food looks absolutely gorgeous. Know what you mean about meaning to post and having the pictures and the recipes and still, somehow it doesn’t happen. Fortunately the food does!

By the way particularly love the look of the butterbean and spinach curry… any chance?!

Azelia – just dropped by to say I made a big bowl of sweet and sour cucumber with the next one off the vine and you’re right – they are great. And very moreish.

Good luck with the wedding – it will go well.
